75th Birthday Bash
City of Scottsdale
In 2026, the City of Scottsdale will proudly mark its 75th anniversary—a milestone honoring the people, progress and spirit that shaped our community since its incorporation in 1951. Throughout the year, we invite you to join us in celebrating the vibrant history, unique culture and exciting future of “The West’s Most Western Town.” From community events and historical highlights to opportunities for reflection and fun, this anniversary is more than a celebration—it’s a tribute to the city we all call home.

Sonora is a custom-built community art sculpture created to celebrate Scottsdale’s 75th anniversary. Designed by the creative team at Scottsdale Artists’ School, the 75-inch by 75-inch wire horse reflects the city’s history and cultural roots. During the yearlong celebration, Old Town visitors are invited to participate in Pony Expressions with Sonora, a collaborative activity that encourages people to share personal memories of Scottsdale by adding pony-colored fabrics such as leather and cotton to the sculpture. As more visitors contribute, Sonora evolves from a bare framework into a vibrant symbol of shared experiences and local pride.
