Reporting Instructions

Jurors are to report to the Jury Assembly Room. Pass through Security, then go to the left and turn right, around the corner. The Jury Assembly Room is located at the end of the hall on the right, directly across from Courtroom 3. Please have your Jury Summons or Driver’s License/Government Issued ID with you.

Can I postpone my jury duty?: Yes, please visit Maricopa County eJuror or for immediate assistance between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, call the Maricopa County Jury Commissioner's Office at 602-506-5879 and press "0" to speak with a representative.
Can I be excused from my jury duty?: Yes, however strict provisions apply. Just complete the Juror Affidavit Questionnaire and send it to the Maricopa County Superior Court, Jury Commissioner in the provided envelope. You will receive notice in the mail regarding your request. If you do not have the envelope, mail the Questionnaire to:; Maricopa County Superior Court

Can I complete my Juror Affidavit Questionnaire Online Instead of Mailing It?: Yes, you may do so using the Maricopa County eJuror system. You will not be able to request an excusal, disqualification or additional postponements online.
Is Jury Duty Mandatory?: Failure to attend jury duty may subject you to penalties provided by law (A.R.S. 21-334). All Scottsdale residents are obligated by state law to serve as a juror unless they are not a United States citizen; are under 18 years of age; Have been convicted of a felony and their civil rights have not been restored.
I am a full-time student? Does that excuse me from Jury Duty?: No, college student are not exempt from Jury Duty. If you require a postponement, call between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, the Maricopa County Jury Commissioner's Office at 602-506-5879 and press "0" to speak with a representative.
My address is not in Scottsdale, why did I get a summons?: Some addresses are physically within the City of Scottsdale boundaries but because of overlapping Zip Codes show a different city address such as Paradise Valley or Phoenix. Additionally, if you are eligible to vote in City of Scottsdale elections, pay for City of Scottsdale services (i.e. water, trash pick-up, etc) you are eligible to serve as a juror at the Scottsdale City Court.
If I no longer live in Scottsdale, what do I do?: If you are no longer a resident of Scottsdale or just have a change of address, please update your information with Superior Court or call between the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, the Maricopa County Jury Commissioner's Office at 602-506-5879 and press "0" to speak with a representative.
How often is jury duty?: If you are selected to serve on a jury trial, you will not be summoned to serve again for 24 months. If you are not selected to serve on a jury trial, you will not be summoned to serve again for 18 months, with the exception of Federal Court. Only jurors that serve on a trial are exempt for two years from Federal Court. If you receive a summons within these time-frames you should send in the Juror Affidavit Questionnaire indicating the date of your previous appearance.
What if I forget to go to jury duty?: Immediately contact the Maricopa County Superior Court, Office of the Jury Commissioner at 602-372-5879, press “0”.
What do I do if I forgot to send in my Juror Affidavit questionnaire?: Please bring the questionnaire with you when you report for jury duty.
Will I get proof of having to do jury in case my employer asks for it?: Yes, proof is provided at the end of your service. You will receive a letter indicating the date of service Physical letters are provided, however, if you require a digital copy just let the Court Clerk know and they will email it to you.
How did you get my name for jury duty?: The Superior Court Jury Commissioner develops a list of potential jurors which is drawn from the County Voter Registration List and Department of Transportation records. A computer then randomly selects jurors from all individuals with a Scottsdale residence.
Do you provide child care?: No. It is your responsibility to arrange for child care before you report for jury duty.
Can I bring someone to keep me company?: No, only jurors are allowed into the Jury Assembly Room. Anyone else may remain in the court lobby or courtroom.
What if I need a special accommodation?: We will make every attempt to accommodate your needs. Please contact the Scottsdale City Court at least 2 business days before your scheduled jury service.
How can my family reach me in an emergency?: Have them call the Scottsdale City Court at 480-312-2442 and follow the prompts. As the Court receives a large volume of calls, a fax or email to the Court may receive a quicker response.
What if I have more jury duty questions?: Email us OR call and leave a message at 480-312-3088. How long will I be at the Scottsdale City Court?: Jury check-in and selection can take up to 5 hours. Jurors, who are selected to serve as a juror should be prepared to serve at least 2 days, unless otherwise specified by the Court.

Every selection process is different, the Jury Clerk on duty will provide more information on your appearance date.

Food/Drink

No outside food or drink will be allowed in the courthouse. The court will provide beverages and snacks for your convenience. Additionally, there are vending machines available for Juror use. Please note that a refrigerator will not be available for use by Jurors.

Wi-Fi

The Scottsdale City Court provides free Wi-Fi service. Look for the network called COS-WiFi. You will need to accept the terms to establish a connection.
