Public Safety Teen Academy

Scottsdale offers teens, ages 14-18, the opportunity to learn more about future careers in law enforcement at the Public Safety Teen Academy.

The academy is offered 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., usually the first week in June, at the Hontz Training Center.

Scheduled activities include:

• Vehicular crime investigation
• Police riot control techniques
• Decision shooting scenarios
• Criminal investigations
• Tactical demonstrations

Applicants should be able to accomplish the following:

• Lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Drag 120 lbs. for 20 feet
• Perform moderate cardio exercise for 30 minutes
• Don heavy clothing and gear that might weigh as much as 65 lbs.
• Stoop, squat and crawl on knees

Note: Application information will be used to conduct a background check and can affect your acceptance into the academy.
