Nationally accredited since 1994, Scottsdale's Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to creating remarkable experiences for all ages through inclusive, world-class recreation programs and events. Our award-winning parks, facilities, fields, and spaces promote a healthy and active community - with more than 1,100 acres of open space spanning from the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt to the northern desert highlands.

Indian Bend Wash - Greenbelt

The Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt is an oasis of parks, lakes, paths and golf courses traversing 11 miles through the heart of Scottsdale. The greenbelt features more than 24 grade-separated crossings, meaning users can avoid major cross traffic.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

The 30-acre park, located in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, is the most unique park of its kind in the country. Take a ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad and the 1950-vintage Allan Herschell carousel.

McDowell Sonoran Preserve

The Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve is a large, permanently protected, sustainable desert habitat that includes an interconnected network of non-motorized, multi-use trails (hike/bike/horse) accessed from multiple trailhead locations.

Xeriscape Garden

The Xeriscape Garden at Chaparral Park provides an educational resource where growing regionally appropriate plants also grows public awareness. Garden visitors can learn how to reduce outdoor water use by implementing sustainable landscaping practices.
