At Scottsdale 101 Citizen Academy we believe in fostering a community of informed and engaged citizens. Our academy is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to actively participate in the democratic process, understand local governance and make a positive impact on your community.
Our carefully curated curriculum covers a wide range of topics, from understanding the fundamentals of local government to exploring the intricacies of public policy. Each session is presented by city leaders and department heads where you will be engaged in dynamic and interactive learning experiences, group discussions, case studies, and hands-on activities to enhance your understanding of the inner workings of the city.

Apply your newfound knowledge through community projects. The Citizen Academy emphasizes practical application, giving you the opportunity to work on projects that directly benefit your community.
The academy is open to Scottsdale residents, business owners and City of Scottsdale employees. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate. The ten-week program will be limited to 40 participants with preference given to those who can attend a minimum of eight (8) sessions and who have not participated in the past. Two special assignments will be required as part of the curriculum.
The Academy is held on Thursdays, beginning Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to noon. Followed by a graduation ceremony and presentation during a city council meeting.
