What is a service line? A service line is the pipe that connects a home or other structure to the water main. The service line generally has two sections. The private side is the portion after the water meter and is the responsibility of the property owner. The public side is the portion between the water main and the meter and is owned by the city.
The city’s initial service line inventory was submitted in October 2024 and is now available online. While many service lines were inspected and verified as non-lead, there are some homes and businesses that remain incomplete. City staff is working to finish the inspections and material verifications. To be considered complete, the city must inspect three points along the service line; the public and private side of the meter and where the service line connects to the home or structure.
So far, the city has not found any service lines that contain lead. To learn more about your service line materials, click the map link above. Search by address or simply zoom in to your property.
