Get a ride, not a DUI on Halloween and over the weekend. The Scottsdale Police Department, in collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will be conducting DUI enforcement during the Halloween weekend. The Scottsdale Police Nighttime Traffic Unit will work the Task Force with other valley agencies starting in the evening hours of Halloween on Thursday, October 31 and work through the early morning of Sunday, November 3.
The purpose of the DUI Task Force is to contact drivers who have made the disastrous decision to drive impaired and remove them from the roadway before they hurt others or themselves. This will be done by conducting saturation patrols in different areas of the city.
DUIs are 100 percent preventable, and the results of DUI collisions can be tragic. If people plan on consuming alcoholic beverages or using recreational marijuana, we strongly recommend they also plan ahead to have a sober designated driver, use a ride-share service or a taxi to ensure they get home safely.
Please drive safely and sober or find a safe alternative way home.
