Geology Adventure
Hike with a Park Geology Guide to the Grandview Overlook. Learn about the rocks, minerals, and land formation of Pinnacle Peak, McDowell Mountains, and the valley of the sun as seen from the trail. This is a moderate 3/4-mile hike.

Sunset - Full Moon Hikes

These cool evening hikes to the Grandview Overlook allow visitors to experience the park after hours at their own pace. These hikes are safe and fun for the whole family. Events last approximately 1.5 hours. Staff and volunteers will be on the trail to assist visitor and answer questions. A moderate 1.5-mile round trip hike.

Astronomy Evenings

Enjoy a beautiful desert evening under the stars and learn about some of the objects visible in the night sky. NASA Solar System Ambassador, Mark Johnston (Instagram: @azastroguy), will highlight the evening's visible objects, including planets, multiple star systems, globular clusters, and nebulae through a high-end refractor telescope, while providing a running commentary and fielding questions from the group.

Participants are encouraged to bring a folding chair for seating, binoculars, and a small penlight flashlight.

Wildlife Discovery Programs

Stop by and experience native wildlife of the Sonoran Desert. Local non-profit wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and education organizations will be in the Ramada exhibiting live animals. This education opportunity is free for visitors of all ages. All exhibits are on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. and will be 1-2 hours long.

Jingle Hike to Santa

Put on your best holiday outfit, grab the kids and head to Pinnacle Peak Park on December 7th for a morning of festivities and cheer the whole family will enjoy. Participants will receive a special bell at check in that will jingle all the way to Santa, who will be waiting for you and your family at the Grandview Overlook. Make sure the kids bring their “wish list” for the Jolly Old Guy and don’t forget to pack the camera! There will be plenty of coffee, cocoa, and Christmas treats for all to enjoy near the Ramada. Interactive storytelling, crafts, and professional face painting will be available too!

We look forward to a merry event and appreciate the non-profit 501c3, Friends of Pinnacle Peak Park for sponsoring this event and their continued support and commitment to our community and families! The Jingle Hike and all activities are free. Strollers, bikes, and pets are not permitted. Please note, you must embark on your hike at the time you are registered.
